Brightside offers a highly structured service and so people who like routine and consistency benefit most from this. Our services are designed to support those individuals with low, moderate, high and complex needs, with our staffing levels guided by the support required. We support individuals; on the autistic continuum, with speech and communication needs, with mental health needs, with developmental delays and other global learning needs. Unfortunately due to our accommodation and area of expertise, we are unable to support those with complex physical needs or who are unable to weight bear or mobilise with assistance.
The majority of our group members have had an EHCP, attended a special school or have received a high level of support within mainstream.
We’re often asked why we specialise in group provision as opposed to enabling; We strongly believe that young people, who often require a lot of support in social environments, should spend time with those of a similar age, with whom they share interests. Enabling services allow individuals to pursue their own interests and are certainly very appropriate for some, however they offer very little opportunity to practice social interactions with others and often leads to isolation from peers and over reliance on one staff member. Therefore a supported social setting is often most beneficial to individuals who have a lack of opportunities to socialise or who require support to do so.
Absolutely! We encourage everyone to visit as many provisions as possible, to assist you in identifying the most suitable environment for you. Please call us on 01670 857484 to arrange this.
